God said: ‘let Us make man in our image.’ And He made them man and woman – in His image. Then he looked for a man He could trust and found Abraham. He wanted to see if Abraham would believe that God could raise his son from the dead. Abraham passed the test. He believed God would raise his promised son Isaac from the dead and it was accounted to Abraham as righteousness. God realized that people would believe the Gospel now. Those who believe like Abraham would be saved: Jews and Gentiles alike.
This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ: ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life.’ (John 3:16)
When Jesus entered the earth He said: ‘offering and sacrifice are not what you require, but a body you have prepared for me, as it is written, to do your will oh God!’ (Hebrews 10:5-7) Jesus needed a body to do God’s will on earth. He was given a physical body when He was born from Virgin Mary. In that body He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil for God was with Him. He showed us what God is like.
Then He gave His life as a ransom for our sin on the cross of Calvary. His blood was shed for the remission of our sins and by His stripes we are healed. Every time we hold communion we remember His death and resurrection.
They buried Him in a tomb and sealed it, but God raised Him up on the third day. He was dead but He is alive for evermore! He conquered death, hell and the grave!
Jesus promised to build His Church (His body) on earth and the gates of hell cannot prevail against it. As God prepared a body for Jesus, Jesus prepared a body for us – to do His will!
He is the Head of the Church that is His body. We enter the holy presence of God through the veil that is torn that is His body. It is a new and living way by His blood that was shed.
Look what God has prepared for you: a body to do His will! You cannot do the will of God without belonging to His body! Because you are part of the body of Christ you know the will of God and He strengthens you to do His will and finish His work.
How can we know the will of God?
We have to renew our minds to know the good, acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2) Once we know God’s will we have to operate according to the measure of faith given to us. (Romans 12:3)
Philippians 2:13 say it is God working in us to will and to work according to His good pleasure. His will is already in us. It has taken up residence in us but we need a body that He has prepared in order to do His will and to finish His work on earth.
Jesus said in John 4 that His meat is to do the will of God and to finish His work. (John 4:34)
In Matthew 24:14 Jesus said this Gospel will be preached in all the nations of the world with signs following and then the end will come. So to finish His work we have to reach all the nations of the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I Corinthians 2: 8, 9 is clear about the fact that the natural man cannot understand the things of God, but that the Spirit of God reveals to us what God has prepared for those who love Him.
Jesus promised that there are many mansions in His Father’s House. It must be a big house: it does not have rooms, but mansions inside! (John 14:1-6)He said He is going to prepare a place for us. When He returns He will take us to be with Him forever.
Look what God has prepared for you: he has given you a body of believers, a church, where you can do His will and finish His work! Look what God has prepared for you: He has prepared a mansion for you! His Holy Spirit will reveal to you whatever else God has prepared for you!
You can be confident because the one that prepared you for this very thing is God Himself! (II Corinthians 5: 6,7) You are able to do all things through Christ that continually strengthens you. (Philippians 4:13) God has not only prepared things for you but also prepared you for things!
Jesus needed a body to do God’s will – so do you and I – He prepared the Church – His body – for us to do His will. As a Church we can do His will together.
Your part in the vision of the Church is important. Nothing you do is insignificant. God is a Rewarder of all those that diligently seek Him. We work together in mutual submission to do His will and to complete His work on earth. We learn to regard each other higher than ourselves. We honor the Head of the Church and bring praise, glory and honor to His Name. We worship the King of kings and the Lord of lords! We expect His soon return!
