The mystery of godliness

The mystery of godlikeness is hard to understand because it is a mystery! Yet God chose apostles to reveal the mysteries of God to believers. Here are a few aspects of a mystery that can be revealed to those that believe:

Mat 13:11 – Jesus spoke to people in parables because only the apostles were to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven to preach it – that is why preaching is so important – without someone sent to preach the mysteries of God will not be known

I Cor 2:7 – we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery – eye has not seen…but God has revealed them to us through His Spirit

I Timothy 3:16

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness (hidden truth) God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory.

Mat 3:16 – Baptism of Jesus: ‘this is my beloved son in whom I am well-pleased’

Mat 28:2 – Angel rolled back the stone and his countenance was like lightning

Rom 10:18 – faith comes by hearing – preachers have gone out to the ends of the earth – the sound of their preaching has been heard all over the world

Col 1: 8, 23 – Declared to you the love in the spirit – keep the faith

Luke 24:51 – while He blessed them He was parted from them and carried up into heaven and they worshipped Him

I Peter 1, 2 – angels do not understand the mystery of godliness or the mystery of the gospel

We partake of the divine nature by the great and precious promises given to us: II Peter 1: 3, 4 The Word abides in us as we abide in the word.

Rom 8:11 – the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us

Sings that accompany this mystery

Truth (Titus 1: 1 – truth that is according to godliness)

Honesty (I Tim 2:2 – pray for authorities that we may live a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence & dignity)

Soberness (Tit 2:12 – denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, live soberly and righteously and godly in this present age)

Holy conversation (II Pet 3:11 – what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness on account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation: longsuffering is not delay it is opportunity.)

The Key to the power of godliness

God raised Jesus from the dead. God glorified His Son Jesus Christ. His Name through faith in His Name gives power to perform healing and miracles. Jesus promised: for those who believe in My Name they shall cast out devils, lay hands on the sick and they shall recover, speak in other tongues. (Acts 3:12-16/ Mark 16:15-20)
