Show’s Over

Preached by Apostle Aje Pelser, Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town
Galatians Series, Preaching the Truth

Gal 6:11 See with what large letters I have written to you with my own hand!
Gal 6:12 As many as desire to make a good showing in the flesh, these would compel you to be circumcised, only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.
Gal 6:13 For not even those who are circumcised keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh.
Gal 6:14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Gal 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. Gal 6:16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.
Gal 6:17 From now on let no one trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.
Gal 6:18 Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

Signs that end the show of the flesh and unnecessary religious traditions of men.
1. Apostles who bear the marks of the Lord Jesus start writing epistles with large letters!
2Co 3:3 clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.

2. Exposure of showman in ministry who don’t want to suffer for God.
1Pe_3:14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. "AND DO NOT BE AFRAID OF THEIR THREATS, NOR BE TROUBLED."

3. Compelling and force people with threats versus being led by the Holy Spirit.
Compel: constrain; G315; anagkazō; Thayer Definition:
to necessitate, compel, drive to, constrain
by force, threats, etc.; by permission, entreaties, etc.; by other means; Part of Speech: verb
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

4. Boasting in the flesh versus in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2Co 10:12 For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

5. Cultural traditions are exposed as inferior to new creation realities in Christ.
2Co 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

6. Peace and mercy are fruits of the Spirit in the church.
Psa 85:10 Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed.

When we have driven out demons in Jesus’ name, the manifestations become quite a show. In a sense, it is good for unbelievers to see a person being set free from spiritual oppression or possession. However, mostly you find Jesus telling the demon to be quite and come out of the person, not to hurt them. Demons recognize the authority of Jesus in believers and have to leave the vessel. A few times I have told a demon interrupting a meeting: “The show’s over!’
