Revive Your Work O God
Revive Your Work O God
Preached by Aje Pelser, Harvester Reformational Church, Cape Town
Easter Sunday
Habakkuk’s Prayer
Hab 3:1 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, on Shigionoth. ( Wild, enthusiastic and triumphant music Amplified Translation.)
Hab 3:2 O LORD, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; O LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; In wrath remember mercy.
God’s procedures to revive His Work in us:
1. We hear God speak with reverential fear of God, which is the beginning of wisdom to work for Him.
2. We pray and beseech the Lord with all our hearts to Revive His Work.
3. We remind Him that it is His work that we are busy with and that He can breathe new life into us to fulfil His work in the earth.
4. We access God’s perfect timing to revive His work in the midst of the years, not according to our calendar, but in His timing.
5. We ask God to make our work known – sometimes we get busy doing things for God, He never told us to do. It’s about His purpose in us, not the other way around!
Ask the Holy Spirit to make His work known to you.
Today as we prayed, one believer was asking about their purpose. The holy Spirit in me reminded her that it is God’s purpose we should seek:
Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Rom 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Rom 8:30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
Believe God loves you and ask Him how His purpose can be fulfilled in and through you every day.
Commit to that purpose in a prayer:
Father God, I ask you to revive your Work in and through me in Jesus’ name, I submit to the leading of your Spirit and I hear the prophetic exhortation through the gifts in the church too. Help me see the hope of my calling and empower me to live out Your purpose for my life which will help many others to experience your love and mercy, in Jesus name, Amen!
