Divine Purpose
And we know that all things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
We love God by keeping His Word and obeying it. We show our love by worshipping and praising Him. We show our love by feeding His sheep and going to other nations to tell them about Jesus Christ & His Kingdom.
His purpose is clear. It is in the next verse in Romans: ‘for whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.
Moreover whom He predestined these He also called, whom He called these He also justified, and whom He justified these He also glorified.
What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us who can be against us?
(Romans 8:29-31)
God’s purpose is to conform us to the image of His Son. He is faithful He will also do it. He will complete the good work He begun in us. He will perfect that which concerns us.
For this purpose was the Son of God manifest, to destroy the works of the evil one. (I John 3: 7,8) Jesus went from town to town to teach about the Kingdom of God and to heal people and set people free. When they wanted Him to stay longer in a town He would say: ‘I need to go to other towns also, for this purpose I came forth.’ That was His purpose.
Your purpose is bound up with whom you are. They way God made you is different from other people. We are all part of God’s purpose in the Church, but we all have different purposes in life.
Purpose makes you get up with hope in your heart. Purpose helps you sleep better.
Purpose gives you a sense of direction. Purpose comes out of vision. Without vision people perish.
Here’s a word from the Lord that encouraged me greatly over the years: Micah 7:16: All the world will stand amazed at what I will do for you.
Because God told me through old prophetess Raper that He would use me in other lands I lined up my life with that purpose. I started believing I could reach the whole world for Christ. Now I have reached 117 nations by the grace of God and with the help of God’s people. As we stand together it will be possible to reach all 192 recognized UN nations of the world in a lifetime. As we understand out purpose to reach the world together we are linked together in a meaningful way. It is a Kingdom purpose. The Kingdom of God is compared to a valuable pearl that a man sold all he had to purchase the field where the pearl was buried. (Matt 13:44)
Jesus came to pay our ransom, a price paid to release slaves from bondage. He gave His life for us. We give our lives to Him.
Matthew 28:19, 20: Go into all the nations of the world and preach the Gospel – I will be with you. Go to your neighbor, go to your friends & family, go to other nations and tell them about Jesus Christ and what He has done for us.
Jesus’ disciples entered into His purpose. Ordinary men did extraordinary things because of their union with Him in His purpose. Their purpose in life changed when they met Him. Their lives were transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit and they became witnesses of Jesus Christ and the life-changing power of God. Their story is recorded in Acts and is still continuing today.
Christ will provide opportunities for you to fulfill your purpose and He will strengthen you with inner strength for the task. He will confirm His word with signs and wonders following. He promises to be with you, always, and He will never leave you.
Throughout the Bible we see how God fulfilled the purpose of men and women of God. Joseph was hated and sold by his brothers, but that did not stop his dream of being a ruler. Eventually they all bowed before him to get some food. But he went through the pit and prison to get there! God’s ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. He does things differently than we would think.
God places things inside of you that you must do. There are ideas inside of you that God put there. Those ideas are given to help you fulfill your purpose. There are books inside of you, songs, paintings, recipes, business ideas and inventions! Let those ideas come out and be a blessing to others. Become fruitful right there where you are. God’s resources are available to you.
Troubles, affliction, tribulation & persecution will come to detract you and stop you, but God gives us spiritual weapons to defeat all those things and to fulfill our purpose in this life. Stop blaming others, because God is at work in you to transform you so that you can fulfill your purpose. People will run to you to hear what God has for them so that they can fulfill their purpose.

Play your pastoral role. Take care of others. Put your whole heart into it.
God breaks the intimidation you constantly face

Robert Moffat wrote to David Livingstone and told him about purpose. That letter changed Livingstone’s life. He became a world figure as an explorer and missionary. He married Mary Moffat in Kuruman. I prayed under the Livingstone tree where he asked her to marry him!
